Golden Monkey Honey-Ginger Morning Tonic
A warming morning tonic that pairs Golden Monkey's smooth honey-cocoa body with fresh ginger and a squeeze of lemon for a gentle, comforting start to the day.
Golden Monkey makes a wonderful base for a morning tonic thanks to its smooth, naturally sweet character and gentle, steady lift. Brewed properly it carries honey and cocoa notes with very little bitterness, so it needs almost no sweetening to taste indulgent.
A few slices of fresh ginger add a warming, slightly spicy lift that echoes the tea's own peppery edge, while a small spoon of honey rounds everything into a cozy, soothing cup. A squeeze of lemon brightens the finish without overpowering the tea.
Brew the tea around 90°C for about three minutes—long enough to draw out the malty sweetness but short enough to keep the cup mellow and free of harshness. Strain well before adding the other ingredients.
Sip this slowly first thing in the morning or mid-morning when you want a comforting, warming drink with a gentle pick-me-up. Taking a quiet moment with a warm cup is traditionally associated with a sense of calm and ease.
