Rosehip Hibiscus Vitamin C Boost
Rosehip and hibiscus brewed together with raw honey and lemon—a tart, ruby-red wellness drink delivering a serious vitamin C hit, naturally caffeine-free.
Rosehips—the fruit of wild rose, also called rosa mosqueta in South America—are among the highest natural sources of vitamin C, containing more per gram than oranges. Brewed with hibiscus, the antioxidant punch doubles and the color turns a deep, glowing ruby.
Vitamin C is heat-sensitive, so technique matters. Brew the rosehip and hibiscus together with water just below boiling—around eighty-five degrees—covered, for about ten minutes. Boiling water destroys some of the ascorbic acid; covered steeping traps it inside.
The natural tartness is sharp, almost cranberry-like, and it needs balancing. Raw honey is ideal because it adds its own antioxidants and doesn't compete with the fruit character. A squeeze of fresh lemon at the end deepens the citrus profile and keeps everything bright.
This is the drink to keep brewing through cold and flu season. Sip it warm at the first scratch of a sore throat, or make a thermos and drink it across the day. The combination of rosehip, hibiscus, lemon, and honey is folk medicine that actually has the lab data behind it.
