Mao Feng Gin Orchard Fizz
A light, aromatic gin fizz built on Huangshan Mao Feng with elderflower and lime—floral, fresh, and crisp, with a fizz-free mocktail version for any occasion.
Mao Feng's orchid aroma and clean sweetness make it a graceful base for a delicate cocktail. Brewed and chilled, the tea brings a floral, vegetal backbone that pairs naturally with the botanicals in a good gin.
Elderflower is the perfect bridge here. Its honeyed, floral note amplifies the tea's orchid character, while fresh lime adds brightness and keeps the drink crisp rather than cloying.
Brew the tea on the gentle side and chill it well before mixing. A short, cool steep keeps the flavor sweet and aromatic, so it can hold its own against the gin without turning bitter when shaken.
For a non-alcoholic mocktail, simply skip the gin: shake the chilled Mao Feng with elderflower cordial and lime juice, then top with soda water and garnish the same way. You get the same floral, refreshing fizz—perfect for a relaxed evening without the alcohol.
