Gunpowder Tea Smoky Gimlet
A smoky twist on the classic gimlet—gin infused with Gunpowder green tea, fresh lime, and a hint of mint for a cocktail with real character.
Gunpowder green tea and gin are a match made in heaven—both share botanical, slightly bitter profiles that merge seamlessly. Infusing gin with the tea's rolled pellets adds a subtle smokiness and a faint green tint that makes the drink visually intriguing.
The gimlet format is ideal because the lime juice's acidity cuts through any residual bitterness from the tea, while the simple syrup balances everything into a clean, sippable cocktail.
A few muddled mint leaves pay homage to the tea's Moroccan heritage and add a layer of aromatic freshness. Don't overdo it—two or three leaves is enough to perfume the drink without turning it into a mojito.
For a non-alcoholic version, infuse cold water with Gunpowder tea overnight, then shake with lime juice, simple syrup, and mint over ice. Strain into a coupe glass and you've got a mocktail that's every bit as elegant.
