Iced Passionflower Lemonade with Mint

Cold-brewed passionflower blended with fresh lemon and mint over ice—a refreshing, caffeine-free cooler that stays mild, grassy, and gently calming.

This iced cooler shows off passionflower's gentler side on a warm afternoon. Cold-brewing keeps the infusion soft and grassy, with none of the harshness that hot water can sometimes draw out, making a smooth base for a light, refreshing lemonade.

Fresh lemon brightens the mild herb and brings out a clean, summery freshness, while mint adds a cooling lift. A touch of honey or agave rounds the edges, and the whole drink stays calm and easygoing rather than sharp or sweet.

Cold-brewing overnight is the key step. Steeping the passionflower in cold water in the fridge gently extracts its delicate flavor, leaving a clear, pale infusion that tastes clean and refreshing over plenty of ice.

This is a lovely caffeine-free option for relaxing in the late afternoon or early evening. Because passionflower is a mild sedative, it pairs naturally with slowing down—just enjoy it mindfully, and use caution during pregnancy or alongside sedatives and alcohol.

Ingredients

  • 3 tbsp dried passionflower herb (or 3 tea bags)
  • 4 cups cold water
  • Juice of 1 lemon
  • 1–2 tbsp honey or agave, to taste
  • Handful of fresh mint leaves
  • Lemon slices, to serve
  • Ice cubes

How to make it

  1. 1Place the passionflower in a jar, pour over the cold water, and stir. Cover and refrigerate 8–12 hours.
  2. 2Strain through a fine sieve into a pitcher, pressing gently to extract the flavor. Discard the herb.
  3. 3Stir in the lemon juice and honey or agave until dissolved.
  4. 4Add the mint leaves and chill until cold. Serve over ice with lemon slices and extra mint.
