The chain was born in Sydney, but it is run from Brisbane: head office and warehouse are here, and the Queen Street shop has been pouring since 2002.
The Tea Centre began in Sydney, but Brisbane is where it is run from today: the company's head office and warehouse are in the city, and its online store ships from here. The oldest of its Brisbane shops is Shop 6 at 160 Queen Street, inside the Brisbane Arcade in the city centre, which has been trading since 2002. It keeps shopping-street hours, from nine in the morning through the week, and stays open until eight on Friday nights.
Two more Brisbane shops sit in the suburbs, both inside Westfield centres: Chermside, trading since 2011, and Carindale, open since 2021. Chermside stays open late on Thursdays and closes early on Sundays; Carindale follows the same late Thursday. Beyond the city, the chain's store list also names Queensland shops in Robina on the Gold Coast, in Toowoomba and in Townsville, and the Brisbane Arcade store, from 2002, is older than every one of them.
The loose leaf is sold by weight in four sizes, 50, 100, 250 and 500 g, so a new tea can start small. The oolong shelf is where the range goes furthest: a Fancy Formosa oolong from Taiwan, a high-mountain oolong from Vietnam and a milky oolong flavoured with milk essence. Among the herbals are organic rose petals and lemon myrtle, an Australian native leaf with a citrus aroma that the chain also packs in tea bags, in a 25-bag tin or a 50-bag refill carton.

The one worth the trip
Lemon Myrtle Tea

Lemon myrtle is an Australian native botanical with a citrus aroma, and the one Australian leaf among these teas. It is the tea that ties the chain to the city it is run from, and the Queen Street counter sells it both loose, from 50 g, and in tea bags, in a tin of 25 or a refill carton of 50, which makes it the easiest Brisbane souvenir to carry home.
