A shan-tea maker on the southern edge of Hanoi with two production sites in Hà Giang, selling ancient-tree green, black, white and pu-erh by the 100 g.
The same Hà Giang trees picked two ways: one bud and one leaf, or one bud and two, with the price telling you which.
Trà Cổ Thụ Shan Hoa began, in its own telling, with trips from 2015 to the remote mountains where tea trees hundreds of years old grow wild in the forest and cold mist, the snow-white buds the locals call Shan Tuyết; after two years of learning, in 2017 the founders started making tea themselves. The shop is at 28 ngõ 373/24 Ngọc Hồi in Thanh Trì district, on the southern edge of Hanoi, and the tea is made at two sites in Hà Giang: Cao Bồ in Vị Xuyên and Phìn Hồ in Hoàng Su Phì.
The list is short and every size runs from 100 g up to a kilo, with the 100 g as the list price. Hà Giang snow shan green is 60,000 ₫ for the one-bud-two-leaves pick and 130,000 ₫ for one bud and one leaf; a Tà Xùa snow shan green, pan-roasted by hand, is 160,000 ₫; Hà Giang shan black is 80,000 ₫ and 140,000 ₫ by the same two picks; a loose 2024 Tà Xùa pu-erh is 210,000 ₫; and a Hà Giang shan white is 350,000 ₫, the top of the list.
Beyond the loose teas there are gift boxes and a shelf of forest produce from the same regions. The shop takes orders by phone and WhatsApp as well as through the site, and the larger sizes are where the price per gram drops, which suits a tea that is drunk every day in the north. Opening hours are not published; the contact line answers from eight in the morning to nine at night.

Hà Giang shan white, the bud-heavy white tea from the same ancient trees, in 100 g at the top of the house's list: white tea from northern Vietnam is rarely sold outside the country, and this is one of the few places in Hanoi that makes its own. Buy it alongside the green from the same pick to taste the two ends of one tree.
