Darjeeling Champagne Cocktail

A refined cocktail pairing Darjeeling-infused vodka with Champagne and elderflower—as elegant as the tea itself.

They call Darjeeling the Champagne of teas, so why not pair it with actual Champagne? This cocktail celebrates the tea's muscatel elegance with a fizzy, floral twist.

Infuse vodka with Darjeeling for just 90 minutes—longer and it turns bitter. The vodka takes on a beautiful amber tint and a delicate grape-floral aroma.

Elderflower liqueur (like St-Germain) amplifies the tea's floral notes, while a dash of lemon juice keeps everything bright and balanced.

For a mocktail version, skip the vodka and Champagne—use the cold-brewed tea with elderflower cordial and sparkling water. Equally sophisticated, zero alcohol.

Ingredients

  • 45 ml vodka
  • 1 Darjeeling tea bag
  • 15 ml elderflower liqueur
  • 15 ml fresh lemon juice
  • Champagne or dry sparkling wine
  • Lemon twist for garnish

How to make it

  1. 1Infuse vodka: add tea bag to vodka in a sealed jar for 90 minutes. Remove bag.
  2. 2Add infused vodka, elderflower liqueur, and lemon juice to a cocktail shaker with ice.
  3. 3Shake briefly (5 seconds—just to chill, not bruise).
  4. 4Strain into a champagne flute.
  5. 5Top with Champagne and garnish with a lemon twist.
