Lotus green tea scented with the house's own lotus flowers is the signature, and the rest of the shelf, from shan black to a 1992 pu-erh, comes in 25 g.
Hien Minh Tea House opened in 2016 at 13 Ngô Tất Tố, in the Văn Miếu quarter of Đống Đa district beside the Temple of Literature, with the stated aim of protecting, nurturing and processing Vietnam's ancient tea trees. It is run by Nguyễn Việt Hùng, winner of the 2016 Tea Master Cup, and his wife, and it folds meditation practice into the way tea is served. The house is open every day from eight in the morning to ten at night, and reservations for a tea session are welcome.
The teas are the house's own, processed from leaf of ancient shan trees in the high mountains, and every one comes in 25, 50 and 100 g. At 25 g, Ancient Black Tea and Snow Shan Green are 115,000 ₫, a Classic Oolong 125,000 ₫, Oriental Beauty 160,000 ₫, a jasmine green, a Shan Mộc green and a Youth White 185,000 ₫, a Sunny Honey black 235,000 ₫, a Fire Dragon mountain oolong 325,000 ₫ and a 1992 aged pu-erh 450,000 ₫. Teaware and gift sets sit beside them.
The signature is the lotus green tea, which the house has made since it opened: snow shan green handmade in the mountains and scented with lotus flowers the house plants itself, in a proportion the tea master describes as found through meditation. At 575,000 ₫ for 25 g it is the most expensive tea on the shelf, and the one the house says it treasures most. A lotus-tea scenting experience can be booked, the tea ceremony is served at the table, and orders ship worldwide.
