You cannot walk in here. Four days a week, by reservation, for ten people at a time — and that is the point of the place, not a limitation of it.

Posh Teatime Co. describes itself as a social enterprise and runs Perfectly Posh, a boutique tearoom at 1273 West Broad Street in Franklinton. It opens Friday through Monday, from eleven until six, by reservation only, for parties of up to ten, with private buyouts for up to thirty. Bookings go through OpenTable or the telephone, and the room is the business: mobile high teas, tastings and an etiquette academy run alongside it.

The seatings are graded by length and by what arrives on the stand. A cream tea runs an hour, a light tea a little longer, and the traditional English afternoon tea ninety minutes; there is a Moroccan atay service and a Mississippi southern tea on the same list, and a children's version at the short end. All meat served is halal, and vegan, nut-free and gluten-free plates are arranged when you book rather than improvised on the day.

The attached boutique is small and uneven in a way worth knowing before you order online. Its pyramid sachets come in a canister of ten, in a mesh woven from a corn-starch fibre, and the few loose teas that publish a pack weight are the ones we can quote; the rest of the singles list a price with no size at all. Orders ship within a day or two with tracking, and the storefront advertises free shipping within the United States.

What to buy here

  • English Breakfast

  • English Breakfast

    English Breakfast Decaf Tea Sachets

The same blend without the caffeine and at the same price, which is rarer than it should be: decaffeinated versions usually cost more.

  • Herbal infusion

    Farmer's Market Fruit Blend

    from US$ 16.95 · 4 oz

A fruit blend with no tea leaf in it, which makes it the one thing on this list a whole table can drink late in the afternoon.

The one worth the trip

Jasmine Pearl Green Tea

from US$ 14.95 · 4 oz

Hand-rolled jasmine pearls are the one item in this boutique that would hold its own in a tea shop twice the size, and four ounces of them is a lot of pearls. Book a seating, drink the room's own service first, and buy the pearls on the way out. That order matters: the tearoom is what this place is, and the counter is the souvenir.
