The shop to stop at in Haga when you want a bag of tea and a tin to keep it in, not a cinnamon bun.

Tea's i Haga sits at Haga Nygata 2, in Haga, and sells loose tea over the counter and through a web shop that ships across Sweden. The shop keeps weekday hours from eleven to six and opens on Saturdays until three; it is closed on Sundays and public holidays. Shipping is a flat 79 kr, free above 499 kr, so a few bags ordered together cost the same as walking in.

The tea is sorted into black, flavoured and plain, a separate Earl Grey shelf, green, white, rooibos, organic, fruit and herbal, and a premium section where the Japanese and Chinese greens live. Every tea comes in 100 g, 250 g, 500 g and one-kilo weights, so the everyday blends can be bought by the bag and the better teas tried small. Lung Ching, an organic Pai Mu Tan, Ti Kuan Yin and a first-grade pu-erh cover the Chinese side; Gyokuro is the Japanese one, sold from 50 g.

Around the tea the shop stocks what goes with it: its own house coffee blend and a range of roasts, chocolate and cocoa, tea cosies, strainers and teapots, Dunoon mugs, Walkers shortbread and a liquorice shelf. Gift bags and wrapping are on offer at the counter. For a first visit, ask for the English Breakfast Blend for the cupboard and one tea from the premium shelf to try at home.

The one worth the trip

Gyokuro

from kr 167 · 50 g

Gyokuro, the Japanese green shaded for weeks before picking, which gives it a deep green leaf and a rich, brothy cup. Brew it cool and short; the 50 g bag is enough for many small pots, and it is the one tea on this shelf worth a detour up Haga Nygata.
