The Naked Leaf
A Kensington tea shop founded by a former dancer, where every tea comes in a tin with a local artist's label or in a cheaper refill bag.
Buy the tin once for the label, then come back with it for the refill bag.
The Naked Leaf was founded by a former professional dancer for whom tea had always been part of daily life, and its idea is simple: tea as it is meant to be, all natural and unhurried, chosen and brewed with some care. The shop is at 1130 Kensington Road NW, in the Kensington neighbourhood, and opens every day of the week: eleven to five on Sundays and Mondays, ten to five the rest of the week.
Every tea is sold two ways: in a decorative tin whose label carries the work of a local artist, or in a refill bag that costs a little less, so the tin can be bought once and kept. The range covers black, green, oolong, white, pu-erh and herbal teas, with Japanese matcha, kyusu teapots and matcha bowls on the tea-ware shelf. Artists can submit work for the labels, and the shop also makes custom-label tins for gifts and events.
The shop runs private events, from tea education to tea and chocolate pairings, and in October 2026 it sells tickets for guided tastings at the Calgary Tea Festival. The web shop sells the same tins and bags online. For a first visit, buy one tin of a tea you already like for the label, and a refill bag of one you have never tried.

Jasmine Pearls Imperial
from CA$ 46.50 · 200 g
Jasmine Pearls Imperial, green tea rolled into small pearls and scented with jasmine blossoms, which open slowly in the pot. It is the tea that shows the shop's whole idea best: worth buying in the tin, worth watching in a glass, and the refill bag is there for when the tin is empty.
