Two hundred teas on one wall would be overwhelming anywhere else; sold by the single ounce, it becomes an invitation to leave with five small pouches instead of one big one.

Happy Lucky's Teahouse has been at 236 Walnut St in Historic Old Town since 2009, run by its owners George and Kari Grossman. It opens every day: Sunday to Thursday from 10am to 6pm, and Friday and Saturday until 8pm. The centre of the shop is the Great Wall of Tea, with more than 200 loose teas, and the shop also sells teaware, gifts, tea subscriptions and boba drinks.

Every tea is sold by the ounce, and several ounces go into the same pouch. India Malty Assam costs US$ 4.45 the ounce, Earl Grey US$ 4.95, China Golden Monkey US$ 6.45 and a Dragonwell US$ 5.95. The Darjeelings come largely from the Glenburn estate, with the first flush at US$ 9.95. On the oolong side there are Iron Goddess of Mercy at US$ 6.95, a Taiwanese Oriental Beauty silver tip at US$ 8.95 and Big Red Robe at US$ 11.95, next to Japanese sencha and jasmine pearls.

The shop blends teas with local institutions, among them one for the Fort Collins Museum of Discovery and the Edson Blend for the Avery House. Kari Grady Grossman leads tea meditations, and the shop takes part in the Fort Collins Foodie Walk on the third Friday of each month. Web orders ship free by USPS over US$ 60 within the United States, and store pickup at the Old Town shop is free with 24 hours to prepare the order.
