Tea & Coffee Centre
A tea, coffee and syrup boutique on the first floor of Viru Keskus with a warehouse shop on Ehitajate tee: one flat price list, 5,00 € per 50 g.
Every loose tea on the Tea & Coffee Centre list costs the same, so the only decision left at the counter is which one, which is exactly what a mall shop next to the Old Town gate should ask of you.
Tea & Coffee Centre, run by Polarest, has two doors in Tallinn. The boutique is on the first floor of Viru Keskus, the shopping centre that opens onto the Viru gate of the Old Town, and the mall's own listing for it gives Monday to Saturday 10:00 to 21:00 and Sunday 10:00 to 19:00. The company's site links to that page as its flagship store and publishes the second address itself: a warehouse shop and roastery at Ehitajate tee 110b, unit 14, open Monday to Friday 10:00 to 19:00 and Saturday 10:00 to 17:00, closed on Sundays and public holidays.
The tea list is priced on one scale: 5,00 € for 50 g, 10,00 € for 100 g, 25,00 € for 250 g and 50,00 € for 500 g, up to a kilo, whatever the tea. That covers a Ceylon OP Meddecombra and a Ceylon FOP Homadola, a Darjeeling Himalaya blend, an organic Sencha Earl Grey, a Sencha Hawaii Flower, a China Milk Oolong and a plain rooibos, alongside a long run of flavoured greens and blacks. The trade-off is depth: there are no garden lots or vintages here, and the site's product pages are the catalogue, since the shop-floor list is loaded by script.
The rest of the boutique is coffee, from origin beans to flavoured roasts, Monin syrups and accessories, which is what makes it the practical stop for a Tallinn visitor on the way from the ferry or the bus station: the mall is on the tram line and open late every day. Web orders ship free in Estonia from 25 € via Omniva or Itella parcel lockers, and to the rest of the EU for a flat 5 €. For a rare oolong or an aged pu-erh, the Old Town specialists are a five-minute walk away.

The one worth the trip
Darjeeling Himalaya blend
from € 5 · 50 g
A Darjeeling-style blend by the 50 g at a mall price: not a garden lot, but the tea to grab between the tram and the ferry when there is no time to reach the Old Town counters.
