Jayida Ché Herbal Tea Spot

Jayida Ché means good tea, and the company behind the tea spot is an aunt-and-niece duo, Aleathia and Mariyah, who blended teas for family Sunday dinners long before it was a business. They established Jayida Ché in 2016 and began shipping nationally, opened a first shop in Atlanta's Ormewood neighborhood in 2017 and a second in East Atlanta, later closing Ormewood and setting up a headquarters at 352 University Avenue in the Pittsburgh neighborhood. The tea spot is at 566 Fayetteville Rd and its website stays open every day.

The blends are organic and fair-trade loose leaf, most of them sold from a one-ounce pouch and then in two and four ounces, half pounds and pounds, and many also as tea bags in a small tin. There is a tea of the month, a black shelf led by a masala chai on a Darjeeling base that the house prefers as a latte, a green shelf with Green Jasmine and Citrus Green, a ceremonial matcha in two- and three-ounce tins, and a simplici-tea line of single ingredients such as organic rooibos and honeybush by the ounce, meant to be steeped alone or added to other blends.

At the tea spot the same blends are served by the cup, pot or latte, alongside coffee and tea-based lemonades such as ginger hibiscus and peach lavender, and loose leaf is sold to take home. Hours run Tuesday to Thursday from 7:30 in the morning, later on Fridays and weekends, with Monday closed. The house also runs workshops, among them seasonal tea blending and a tea and tonic session, a Good Tea Club membership, catering and wholesale. Online orders over fifty dollars ship free.
