A Punavuori tea house in the Chaoshan gongfu tradition, open since March 2024, that sells Chinese and Taiwanese teas from 30 g.
The 30 g tier is the whole idea: at €9 or €10 it turns a Rou Gui or a Jin Jun Mei from a commitment into an afternoon's experiment.
Teetao is at Uudenmaankatu 19-21 in Punavuori, a tea house opened by Du Zhang on 28 March 2024. The name puts the Finnish word for tea next to the Chinese Tao, the Way, and the house follows the Chaoshan gongfu tradition: small pot, short steeps, the same leaf poured many times. Du has been a tea enthusiast for more than ten years, and the site says every tea on the shelf was tasted and chosen personally. Special opening hours are announced on the site and on Google Maps.
The range is Chinese and Taiwanese, with a few Japanese greens, and almost everything is offered in 30 g, 50 g, 100 g and 200 g. At 30 g the prices line up neatly: Dong Ding, Alishan, Rou Gui, Shui Xian, Huoshan Yellow Bud and a ten-year Bulang sheng pu-erh at €9; a heavy-roast Tie Guan Yin, Da Hong Pao, Lu An Gua Pian and a Jin Jun Mei at €10; a 2026 pre-Qingming Xi Hu Long Jing, Bi Luo Chun, Golden Monkey, Oriental Beauty and Silver Needle at €11. The cheapest things on the shelf are Japanese: a bancha at €5 the 50 g and a genmaicha at €7 the 30 g.
The house offers gongfu tea tastings, workshops and corporate sessions at the table, and sells teaware and tea pets alongside the leaf. It opens in the afternoon, 1pm to 7pm from Monday to Saturday, and closes on Sunday. Online orders are for Finland; the return policy is the honest one for a tea shop, since only unopened tea can go back, with postage paid by the buyer. For a first visit, the yellow tea is the thing to ask for: Huoshan Yellow Bud at €9 the 30 g is a category most European shops do not carry at all.

Bulang Big Tree Sheng Pu Erh (10 Years Raw Pu Erh)

A raw pu-erh from big trees in Bulang, ten years old, sold loose from €9 the 30 g. Aged sheng is normally bought as a pressed cake of 200 g or more, which is a lot of money to spend on a style you may not like yet; here the 30 g pack lets you drink a decade-old Bulang for the price of a lunch, and the house will brew the first session gongfu style so you know what the leaf can do before you carry it home.
