Tea House Sofia

Tea House Sofia is a loose-leaf tea shop at ul. P. Parchevich 62, with its entrance on Angel Kanchev Street, in the centre of the city. It opens from eleven to seven on weekdays and from twelve to six on Saturdays, and closes on Sundays. It also takes orders online and delivers across Bulgaria. Prices are shown in euros with the old lev amount next to them, a leftover of the change of currency at the start of 2026.

The list is organised two ways, by type and by origin, and the origins run from Japan, China, India, Taiwan and Nepal to Bulgaria and Argentina. Next to white, green, yellow, oolong, black, pu-erh and matcha there are rooibos, fruit blends, yerba mate and Bulgarian herbs, such as a blend of Bulgarian rose, mursalski tea and ginger. Nearly every tea is sold in a 50 g pack, and the shop also sells drinking cacao from a small Bulgarian roaster.

Every Saturday from one to five the shop runs tastings: up to three people, three teas chosen by you or suggested by the shop, about fifty minutes, prepared the Chinese or Japanese way, and only with a reservation by phone. The idea, in the shop's words, is to try rare high-grade teas. For people who prefer to taste at home there are two tea journeys, sets that cross China or Japan through several teas.
