Iced Cardamom Orange Cooler
A cold-brewed cardamom infusion blended with fresh orange juice — a bright, caffeine-free cooler that turns the spice's citrusy edge into something refreshing.
Cardamom's natural citrus-eucalyptus character makes it an unusually good match for cold brewing and fresh juice, more so than most herbal infusions. Cold extraction softens any resinous edge while preserving the bright top notes, so the result tastes clean rather than muddled.
Orange juice is the key partner here — it amplifies cardamom's existing citrus quality instead of fighting it, the way a more acidic juice like grapefruit or lime might. The combination tastes almost like a spiced orange soda, but entirely natural and caffeine-free.
Cold-brew the cardamom overnight for the smoothest result. A quick hot steep chilled over ice works in a pinch, but it tends to taste sharper and less rounded than a proper 8-hour cold extraction.
Serve this over plenty of ice on a warm afternoon, or pour it as a non-alcoholic welcome drink — its bright color and fragrant aroma make it feel festive without needing any alcohol at all.
