Montevideo drinks more mate than tea, which makes its handful of tea houses all the more devoted. Two specialist boutiques on the coastal side of the city import pure teas and build their own blends, and a chain of health-food shops covers the everyday cup: loose herbs, yerba and the classic tea-bag brands.
