Boldo Digestive Tonic with Ginger and Lemon

Brew the boldo on the lighter side for this drink—3 minutes maximum. Over-steeping brings out too much bitterness, and you want the herbal earthiness to play nicely with the ginger and honey.

Ingredients

  • 1 boldo tea bag or 1 tbsp dried boldo leaves
  • 1 cup hot water (90°C)
  • 1-inch piece fresh ginger, sliced thin
  • 1 tbsp honey
  • Juice of half a lemon
  • Pinch of cinnamon (optional)

How to make it

  1. 1Place boldo tea and ginger slices in a cup. Pour hot water over them.
  2. 2Steep for 3 minutes. Remove tea bag or strain out leaves and ginger.
  3. 3Let cool 2 minutes, then stir in honey and lemon juice.
  4. 4Add a pinch of cinnamon if desired. Serve warm.
