Mixed Berry Black Tea Tonic with Lemon and Honey

A bright, antioxidant-leaning tonic combining mixed berry black tea with fresh lemon and honey for a comforting, fruit-forward daily ritual.

Mixed Berry Black Tea already carries plenty of natural tart-sweet character, which makes it a great base for a simple wellness tonic that needs very little added sugar. Brewed at a moderate strength and brightened with lemon, it tastes like a grown-up berry lemonade with the gentle lift of black tea caffeine underneath.

Honey rounds out the tartness and adds a soft floral note that plays well with the blackberry and raspberry character of the tea, while a few extra fresh or frozen berries muddled into the cup intensify the fruit flavor without needing more tea leaves.

Brew for about 4–5 minutes — long enough to extract good color and body from the black tea base, but not so long that the tannins start to dominate over the fruit. If the tea tastes thin, add a few extra berries rather than oversteeping.

This tonic works well as a mid-morning or early-afternoon pick-me-up, when the moderate caffeine in black tea provides a steady boost without the jitteriness of a strong coffee, while the fruit and honey make it feel like a treat rather than medicine.

Ingredients

  • 1 mixed berry black tea bag or 2 tsp loose leaf
  • 1 cup hot water (95°C)
  • 1 tbsp honey
  • Juice of half a lemon
  • A small handful of fresh or frozen mixed berries
  • Lemon slice for garnish

How to make it

  1. 1Place the tea bag or loose leaf in a cup or teapot. Pour hot water over it and steep for 4–5 minutes.
  2. 2Remove the tea bag or strain out the leaves.
  3. 3While still warm, stir in honey and lemon juice until dissolved.
  4. 4Lightly muddle a few fresh or frozen berries in the bottom of a mug, then pour the tea over them.
  5. 5Garnish with a lemon slice and serve warm.
