GABA Oolong Wind-Down Latte
A warm, low-caffeine-impact oolong latte built for evening relaxation, sweetened with honey and rounded out with a touch of warming spice.
GABA Oolong's naturally mellow, fruity character makes it an excellent base for a comforting evening latte. Because the anaerobic processing softens tannins so much, the tea blends smoothly with warm milk without turning bitter or chalky the way some stronger oolongs can.
This is designed as a wind-down drink rather than a morning pick-me-up — fitting for a tea many people specifically choose for its gentle, calming character and comparatively low caffeine impact among true teas.
A small pinch of cinnamon and a touch of honey lean into the tea's plum-like sweetness without masking it. Steaming or frothing the milk lightly (rather than to a stiff foam) keeps the texture soft and cozy.
Drink this an hour or so before bed, or any time you want a comforting, low-key ritual. It's a gentle way to end the day without reaching for something fully caffeine-free if you still want a little tea character.
Ingredients
- 2 tsp GABA Oolong leaves (or 1 tea bag)
- 3/4 cup hot water (90°C)
- 3/4 cup milk of choice (whole, oat, or almond)
- 1 tsp honey, plus more to taste
- Pinch of ground cinnamon
- Pinch of ground nutmeg (optional)
How to make it
- 1Steep GABA Oolong in hot water for 3–4 minutes. Strain out the leaves.
- 2Warm the milk in a small saucepan or with a steam wand until just steaming (do not boil).
- 3Froth the milk lightly with a whisk or frother for a soft, light foam.
- 4Stir honey into the brewed tea until dissolved, then pour into a mug.
- 5Top with the warm frothed milk, dust with cinnamon and nutmeg, and serve immediately.
