Cantata is a tea and coffee merchant in Al Barsha 1, at Shop 39 of the Al Attar Business Center, open every day from 8:30 to 21:30. The shop says it has been blending tea and roasting coffee for more than 25 years. Its coffee is roasted in-house at CoffeeRoots in Belgium, a roastery whose tradition it dates to 1907; the classic Chinese varieties come from the Changsha Tea Good Company and the herbs from Darman Tea in Armenia. Both halves of the business share one counter.
Almost everything on the tea side is weighed into 50 g bags, and the list crosses the whole map. On the black shelf, English Breakfast, Assam Mokalbari, Lapsang Souchong, Golden Monkey, Golden Nepal and Ceylon Nuwara Eliya; on the green one, sencha, genmaicha, Long Jing and Huangshan Mao Feng. The oolongs run from Tie Guan Yin to Da Hong Pao and Oriental Beauty, and the rest of the six families is covered too: silver needle white, Junshan Yin Zhen yellow, young Menghai sheng and organic Yunnan shou. Matcha breaks the pattern in a 30 g box.
Beyond the leaf there are teapots and carafes, mugs, storage boxes, thermoses and matcha tools, next to the shop's own roasted beans and capsules. Inside that single 50 g format the range is wide: the organic ripe pu-erh is the cheapest item on the list and the silver needles the dearest, so a rock oolong and an everyday rooibos can travel in the same order. Delivery is same-day in Dubai for orders placed before 2 pm, free across the UAE over AED 200, and a flat AED 55 to the rest of the GCC.

The one worth the trip
Junshan Yin Zhen Yellow Tea

Yellow is the scarcest of the six tea families and very few shops import any: this is the Junshan Yin Zhen bud tea, sold in the same 50 g bag as the everyday black. It costs less here than either of the two oolongs on the next shelf, which makes an unusual family cheap to try. If you only cross Dubai for one bag, this is the one that is hard to replace.
