Open from 8:30 in the morning on weekdays, it is the one tea counter in Montreal you can reach before the office, and the pouch price is the same as online.

The DAVIDsTEA store in the Centre Eaton de Montréal, at 705 rue Sainte-Catherine Ouest, is tagged in the chain's own locator as a beverage bar and matcha bar, and opens at 8:30am from Monday to Friday, until 9pm from Wednesday to Friday. A second Montreal store trades in Les Galeries d'Anjou at 7999 boulevard des Galeries d'Anjou, in the east of the island, with later Saturday mornings from 9am. The chain's other stores in the region, at Royalmount, Carrefour Laval, DIX30 and Fairview Pointe-Claire, sit outside the city proper.

The shelf is the chain's catalogue in 50 g pouches at the online prices: Organic Brazilian Mate at CA$ 5.98, Genmaicha, Organic Earl Grey, Organic Calming Chamomile and Organic South African Rooibos at CA$ 9.98, Organic Irish Breakfast at CA$ 10.98, Organic Japanese Sencha at CA$ 12.98, Guangzhou Milk Oolong at CA$ 17.28 and the Organic Matcha Matsu at CA$ 39. The classics are organic across the board, which is not true of every tea chain, and the pouch is the only format for most of them, so there is no bulk discount to chase.

It is a chain store, and the city's two independent tea houses in Verdun and Rosemont go deeper on origin and let you taste before buying. What the Centre Eaton store offers instead is position: a counter in the main downtown mall on the métro's green line, hours that start before the independents open, and a matcha bar to drink the Matsu before taking the tin home.
