A tea counter inside a department store, which means the tins are on display but the bags are the better buy: the same 100 g costs a euro or two less loose than in the tin.

Kusmi Tea describes its Utrecht boutique on its own site as a counter inside de Bijenkorf, the department store at Sint Jacobsstraat 1A in the city centre, offering a wide range of organic teas and infusions made in France, as well as gift sets and accessories, in loose leaf, tea bags and tins. The brand page adds that its teas are made in Normandy and that the company is B Corp certified. The boutique page gives the address and a phone number but no opening hours, so the department store's hours are the ones to check before going.

The classics come as 100 g loose bags, with the same tea in a tin for a little more. Ceylon OP is €12.70 and Assam €13.30; Earl Grey, English Breakfast and Lapsang Souchong are €14.10; Darjeeling N°37 is €14.70; Kashmir Tchai, the house spiced black tea, €15.00; Green Sencha €16.20. Rooibos is the gentle end of the list at €6.70 for 100 g, and the Verbena-Mint infusion comes in a box of 20 muslin bags at €5.90.

Two things cost more and earn it. The Jasmine Jade Pearls, green tea rolled by hand and scented with jasmine, are €44.50 for 100 g, and the matcha is €29.90 for a 30 g tin. Across the city, ZININ on Burgemeester Reigerstraat stocks the same brand in tins, which the shop says it carries in all 100 flavours; the boutique is where the bulk bags are.
