Haas & Haas is at Stephansplatz 4, in the first district, in a building the house describes as 800 years old and as a place where the young Mozart once played. Eva Haas opened her first tea shop in Vienna at 27 together with her husband Peter, bringing back teas from the Far East and specialities such as French pâtes de fruits from their travels; today the second generation, Nini Haas, is taking the business forward. The shop keeps more than 300 teas and opens Monday to Friday from 9:00 to 18:30 and Saturday until 18:00; Sundays it is closed.

The catalogue is sorted the way a Viennese customer asks for tea: Assam, Ceylon and Darjeeling by garden and grade, pure and flavoured blacks, organic greens, sencha, matcha, China and Japan, then oolong, white, yellow, chai, mate, rooibos and herbs, and the house series: Wiener Genuss, Earl Grey, Jasmintee, Teeluxe for the top grades, and a Mozart & Sisi line of blends. Almost everything comes in a fixed 100 g pack, with 70 g and 50 g for a few greens, oolongs and whites and a 30 g tin for matcha, so the shelf reads at a glance.

Next door, the Teehaus serves afternoon tea and the tea cultures of Asia and the Maghreb from 8:00 to 20:00 Monday to Saturday and from 9:00 to 18:00 on Sundays and holidays, and the Teesalon, entered through the shop, opens from noon on weekdays and from ten on Saturdays. Since the house opened its own pâtisserie the counter also sells Konfekt, scones, cakes and Mozartkugeln, plus jams, chocolate and teaware. Online orders ship free within Austria from €40, and a Wein & Feinkost shop on the Ertlgasse completes the family of addresses.
