In a city where the tea shops close for lunch, the chain store on the Coso is the one open until half past nine, with a Darjeeling first flush and a Dong Ding waiting on the shelf.

Tea Shop has two stores in Zaragoza. The old-town one is at Calle del Coso 25-27, a few steps from the Plaza de España, and opens Monday to Saturday from 10:00 to 21:30; the second is inside the Aragonia shopping centre on Avenida de Juan Carlos I 44 and opens Monday to Saturday from 9:30 to 21:30. Both describe themselves the same way: loose teas and infusions by weight, plus teapots, cups, infusers, matcha accessories and gourmet food. Both close on Sunday.

The catalogue is the chain's and the prices are its online prices. The classic origins sit between 8,75 € and 9,99 € per 100 g: Strong English Breakfast, Earl Grey Superior, Assam Maud, Sencha, organic Gunpowder, Tie Kuan Yin and a Pu Erh. The premium origins come in 50 g, a Dong Ding from Taiwan at 13,18 € and Silver Needles at 25,98 €, while a Darjeeling first flush with its leaf grade on the label costs 16,50 € the 100 g and a Jasmine Chung Feng 19,75 €.

Most loose teas start at 100 g and go up through 250 g and 500 g to a kilo, so the price per gram falls as the bag grows; the organic matcha is a 30 g tin at 25,75 €. Beyond the origins there are the chain's own flavoured blends, a rooibos at 8,50 € the 100 g, a chai latte blend at 9,99 € and herbal infusions. Online orders ship across Spain, and the store on the Coso is the natural place to smell the tins before choosing.
