Perth's loose-leaf shopping sits mostly in the city centre, a few minutes' walk apart: the store and brew bar of a Western Australian tea company in the State Buildings, and T2's shop on the Hay Street Mall. West of the centre, a Japanese tea shop in Subiaco sells sencha, gyokuro and matcha. Prices below are in Australian dollars with GST included; Teassential sells in pouches of 20 to 70 g and T2 in 50 and 100 g boxes and tins.

Its numbered teas come in pouches: organic English Breakfast from South India at A$ 10 for 50 g, an Australian-grown sencha from the Acheron Valley at A$ 14 for 70 g, Gin Shan Creme oolong from Nantou at A$ 16.50 for 50 g, organic White Peony at A$ 12.50 for 30 g and Mamacha ceremonial matcha from Aichi at A$ 25.50 for 20 g. Online orders can be picked up at the store.

Loose leaf comes in boxed cubes and black tins: Darjeeling Second Flush at A$ 22 for 100 g, Lung Ching Classic at A$ 26 for 50 g, a Dong Ding oolong from Taiwan at A$ 64 for a 100 g tin, Silver Needles at A$ 56 for 50 g and the house chai at A$ 22 for 100 g. Online orders can be collected in store, and it stays open until 8 pm on Fridays.

A Japanese tea shop run by the Iwasaki family since 2006, with sencha, gyokuro, hojicha, genmaicha and matcha in loose leaf and powder, plus kyusu teapots, matcha bowls and whisks.
