Adelaide's loose-leaf tea spreads over three very different counters. In the city centre, T2 has a shop on the ground floor of Rundle Place, on the Rundle Mall, and to the south, by the Central Market, Kappy's has roasted coffee since 1932 and sells its teas by weight from 100 g. Out in the hills to the south, in Blackwood, Brackendale Tea Co runs a tea room and shop with its own blends in eco bags and tins. Prices below are in Australian dollars with GST included, and T BAR, the Adelaide tea company based in Torrensville, sells its 120-odd blends online with Click + Collect.

The loose leaf comes in boxed cubes: English Breakfast at A$ 18 for 100 g, Japanese Sencha at A$ 26 for 100 g, China Jasmine at A$ 22 for 100 g, a plain oolong at A$ 18 for 100 g, Pai Mu Tan at A$ 22 for 50 g and the house chai at A$ 22 for 100 g. Online orders can be collected in store, and on Fridays it stays open until 9 pm.

The teas sell by weight, from 100 g up to a kilo: English Breakfast at A$ 9, a Margaret's Hope autumn-flush Darjeeling at A$ 16, Chinese Sencha at A$ 8, Iron Goddess oolong at A$ 16, Pai Mu Tan at A$ 18 and plain rooibos at A$ 9.50, all for 100 g. Open mornings only, Monday to Saturday, and tea tastings can be booked.
