Alicante keeps its tea in the Mercado Central: two counters under the same roof on Avenida Alfonso X El Sabio, one of them a Murcian tea-and-coffee house with a list that runs from yellow tea to yerba mate. A block away, the specialist chain Tea Shop has a store on Calle Pintor Cabrera and a second inside Plaza Mar 2, and a bulk grocer on Calle Serrano weighs out herbs by 50 g. Prices below are in euros with VAT included, read on each shop's own site; the market counter sells in 125 g bags and Tea Shop from 100 g up to a kilo.

A Pai Mu Tan comes in a smaller 60 g bag at 6,94 €, and there is loose yerba mate at 3,64 € — rare on a Spanish shelf. Open mornings only, closed Sundays.

A Milky Oolong comes in 50 g at 14,98 €; everything else starts at 100 g and goes up to a kilo.

There is no leaf tea here, but it is the place in the centre for a single herb bought loose. Open mornings and afternoons on weekdays, mornings on Saturday.
