Hamilton's loose leaf is spread across the amalgamated city rather than downtown: the one independent tea house, open since 1999 with more than 250 teas and an afternoon-tea room, is in the village of Waterdown; the chain store is at Lime Ridge Mall on the Mountain; and the everyday source is a health-food grocer with three stores, Locke Street included. A Chinese single-origin specialist in Westdale sells online with pickup by appointment, and downtown there is a Japanese matcha café on King Street East.
