Dallas buys its loose leaf in two places that are nothing alike: a storefront in Deep Ellum, and a weekend market hall downtown where two separate vendors share one address inside The Shed at the Dallas Farmers Market. Nepal runs through the whole city — three of the four shops carry Himalayan leaf — and the fourth, in Far North Dallas, keeps the named classics in stock for pickup by appointment.

Started in 2017 by two US Army veterans who drank tea with locals while deployed, it imports only from estates in current and former conflict zones — Nepal, Rwanda, Sri Lanka, Vietnam, Laos, Colombia, Myanmar, Georgia — so the shelf looks like no other in Texas. Khoisan Mountain Rooibos is $13.49 the 2 oz, Himalayan Earl Grey $16.49, Kathmandu Jasmine and Kanchenjunga Oolong $17.49, a 2019 Red Dao dark from Vietnam $18.49 the 1.5 oz and White Sunrise $19.49; a canister instead of a bag adds $2–3.

Smelling and tasting before buying is the point of the stall, and it carries blends sold nowhere else.

Most teas are $15 the ounce as loose leaf, or $20 as plant-based sachets at the same weight: Yunnan Gold Tip, Sencha, Himalayan Oolong, Chamomile and Masala Chai all sit at $15, and a half-ounce kraft pouch of ceremonial matcha is $10 — the cheapest first try in the city.

Gyokuro, Sencha, Pi Lo Chun and Aiya ceremonial matcha round out the shelf.
