Our favorite tea shops in St. Louis
3 places we'd send a friend to.
St. Louis keeps its loose leaf in three unlikely rooms: a tea room in DeBaliviere Place whose gift shop carries more than fifty teas and whose blends ship from a sister web shop by the ounce, a spice counter that has stood in the Soulard Farmers Market since 1914 with about a hundred teas at US$ 3.50 the 2 oz, and a coffee roaster from 1994 whose Central West End café stocks Firepot sachets and a Uji matcha. Big Heart Tea Co., a St. Louis brand founded in 2012 with no shop of its own, ships its Malawi black and Shizuoka matcha nationwide. Prices on this page run from US$ 3.45 for half an ounce of peppermint to US$ 64.29 for 100 g of stone-milled matcha.
