Our favorite tea shops in Kaohsiung
2 places we'd send a friend to.
Kaohsiung buys its tea the Taiwanese way: high-mountain oolongs by the 75 g or 150 g vacuum pack, from Alishan, Shanlinxi, Lishan and Dayuling, plus the black teas of Sun Moon Lake. The two houses on this page are a 1971 family merchant with its flagship on Jianguo 1st Road and a second-generation tea space in Daliao where a tea master pours free tastings by appointment. Prices run from NT$ 200 for 150 g of Si Ji Chun to NT$ 1,499 for 100 g of a wild black tea from Kaohsiung's own mountains. The city's oldest houses, from 1943 and 1946, sell over the counter only.
