Oldenburg sits on the edge of East Frisia, the corner of Germany that drinks the most tea, and its two tea counters are a few hundred metres apart in the city centre. Nölker & Nölker on Lange Straße is a family business that began in 1920, roasts its own coffee in town and sells loose teas by the 100 g, from a Ceylon Orange Pekoe at 5,50 € to a 2025 Kagoshima sencha at 12,00 €; TeeGschwendner on the Schloßplatz is the Oldenburg shop of the national franchise chain, with the chain's 100 g prices: English Breakfast 5,80 €, Earl Grey Nr. 69 6,60 €, a Himalaya first-flush Darjeeling 9,50 €. A third shop, Tee & Feine Confiserie on Kurwickstraße, keeps some 300 teas over the counter. Prices below are in euros, VAT included.
