Our favorite tea shops in Taoyuan
3 places we'd send a friend to.
Taoyuan's tea is bought where it is made or roasted, in the districts south of the airport rather than downtown: a family tea shop ten minutes from Zhongli station, a 1983 roasting factory on the hill next to Leofoo Village in Longtan, and the 1926 Daxi tea factory of the Taiwan Tea Corporation, restored as a working museum. Expect Taiwanese high-mountain oolong by the 150 g vacuum pack or the 600 g catty, Longtan's own black and Baozhong teas, Ruby No. 18 in tins, and bulk commercial grades from NT$150 for 600 g of sencha to NT$4,000 for a catty of Lishan spring oolong.
