Springfield buys its loose tea on two sides of town. On historic Commercial Street, the C-Street of the old north side, a tea-and-spice shop stocks some 180 teas and tisanes sold by the ounce, most of them also in a half-ounce taster bag, beside a long list of herbs and spices. Out on South Fremont Avenue, a spice, olive-oil and balsamic shop keeps 66 loose teas priced per ounce. For a pot at the table there is a café with a tea bar on Pickwick Avenue and a tea room with a bakery and boutique two doors from the tea shop on Commercial Street.
